Q.【Windows 8】【Windows 8.1】USB Devices Go Off the Power
 

Windows8/Windows8.1 is designed to automatically turn off USB products to save the power.

Please see below for the directions to change your computer's settings
so it won't automatically turn off the devices.

 【1】 When Using Computer's USB Ports

Directions here apply to both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
(Windows 8 is used in this example)




1. Press Windows key and key together to open a menu window
Click Power Options



2. Power Options window opens up
Click Change plan settings for your selected plan (either Balanced or Power saver)



3. Click Change advanced power settings



4. A window opens up - Click next to USB settings in the list



5. Click next to USB selective suspend setting



6. Not to automatically turn off your USB device
when your computer is plugged in to the outlet power point

Click Enabled next to Plugged in



   ↓↓ a dropdown menu appears to choose Enable/Disable






※Click Enabled next to On battery to change it to Disabled when you wish not to
  automatically turn off your USB device when your computer is on battery.






7. Click OK



8. Click x (upper right of Edit Plan Settings window) to close






 【2】 When Using an External USB HD

Directions here apply to both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
(Windows 8 is used in this example)


1. Click + next to Hard disk (in Change advanced power settings)



2. Not to automatically turn off your USB device
when your computer is plugged in to the outlet power point,

Click + next to Turn off hard disk after and change to 0 (Never) for Setting (Minute)

Click Plugged in and change to 0 (Never)




   ↓↓ Click little up-pointing/down-pointing triangles to adjust the number.





※Please do the same for On battery if you wish to change it as well




3. Click OK



4. Click x (upper right of Edit Plan Settings window) to close
